1989 BMW Z1 M52 Alpina Swap
I had NEVER really seen one of these until it showed up at our shop. I really wish I would have taken more pictures of the process but the owner didn't really require many and this swap happened while we were moving shops. This car got a Alpina version of an M52B30 (we think...). It had E36 electronics and E46 single vanos head and crazy alpina intake. It was a fairly straight forward swap with out a couple hurdles. We did have to tune this and it was one of the first times tuning MS41.2.
When it first got to the shop....
Sure are some odd doors...and color
Chopped down an E36 oil pan slightly.
Intake manifold required a 90 degree bend to the throttle body to clear the brake booster.
M52 throttle body installed upside down to clear everything. Engine using stock Z1 engine mounts.
Tuned MS41.2 in house with our AWD Dynocom dyno. This thing was fun!!
